CHECK BACK OFTEN TO FIND OUT WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR DISTRICT REPRESENTATION AT THE STATE HOUSE.
IN ADDITION, THE LOCAL COUNTY COMMISSION AND SCHOOL BOARDS HAVE REGULAR MEETINGS THAT WE SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN INCLUDING NUMEROUS ZONING COMMISSION DISCUSSIONS THAT AFFECT DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA
AT THE STATE HOUSE.
Redistricting occurred on February 7, 2022 when Governor Lee signed the new map changing our federal representation from 3 strong Democratic seats to one and modifying our state house districts whereby 69 now includes about half of Dickson county and all of Hickman and Lewis counties in hopes of creating strong Republican blocks state-wide.
The seat was held by Michael Curcio from 2016_until about March 2022 when he decided to not run for re-election. He resigned his position to become a lobbyist in May 2022. The Dickson county commission voted to appoint Brian Ragan, the county lawyer, at a meeting where the widow of the previous representative, David Shepherd - a Democrat, was nominated by numerous people in the audience. Martha Shepherd wanted to honor her husband's legacy with this fill in position that has no voting aspects, but the Republican stronghold in the county nominated and then voted for Mr. Ragan. Approximately 30 people were in attendance to stand up for and support Martha Shepard. When the voting finished , the entire group stood up and walked out disrupting the start of the regular meeting.

Due to his resignation, Curcio is no longer listed on the government website but this site tracks all of his record while in office You will find that the majority of the 247 rows are acts to amend Tennessee codes in various ways along with resolutions to recognize certain groups or occasions. He lost his first run for office in 2014 to Mr. Shepard and then won in 2016. This is follow the money which shows he raised a little more than $500k for his four races. Ballotpedia does a nice job of summarizing the Representative's work and this site will update with a new link to the 2022 representative when that is live.
